RECOMMENDED | COSAC APAC 2026 - Information Security Conference
Cybersecurity in North Carolina is a critical issue facing organizations and citizens in today's digital age.
The state's public and private sectors are under increasing pressure from evolving cyber threats due to the proliferation of connected devices and an increasingly interdependent online ecosystem. As such, organizations in North Carolina must ensure the security of their data and networks.
In response to these modern challenges, the state has implemented several initiatives and programs to strengthen its cybersecurity posture and promote best practices for IT security.
The North Carolina Department of Information Technology’s (DIT) Security Compliance and Innovation Office coordinates the efforts to ensure the highest possible cybersecurity standards in the state. DIT also provides training and certifications for government and private sector workers. In addition, the state has established the North Carolina Cybersecurity Task Force to monitor and assess the current and emerging threats and develop effective strategies to combat them.
The State of North Carolina has taken part in several cybersecurity conferences and events in recent years. The NC Cyber Security Conference, organized by the North Carolina Department of Information Technology is a key annual event. Held in Raleigh in January, this conference brings together government and industry professionals to discuss the current trends in cybersecurity and discuss best practices.
Furthermore, several other organizations regularly host cybersecurity events in the state. NC Tech Association organizes several cyber events throughout the year, including the NCC!T Security Summit in June and the NC Tech Summit in October. Cyber events held by The Grovo Company and the Research Triangle Park (RTP) are also important programs to look out for in the calendar.
Given the state's efforts to increase cybersecurity awareness and proficiency, North Carolina today is a leader in the implementation of strong security practices. Organizations and businesses in the state are generally well protected against cyber threats, although there is still room for improvement.
The large pool of IT professionals and the active community of private sector organizations dedicated to the development of cyber defense initiatives ensures that North Carolina remains at the cutting edge of cybersecurity technology.
